we just wanted to
wish you the happiest birthday in your new place . . .
. . . where we know you are busy smelling,
and smelling some more,
and making new friends.
we know that you’re playing with all your toys,
making new “toys,”
and that Hedgie has his nose back!
we know that you’re running,
and flying some more,
and never getting tired.
then you’ll “go drink,”
and get plenty of “go to sleep,”
and wake up,
then “go to sleep,” again.
it never gets too cold,
or too snowy,
or too hot,
or too wet,
or too dark.
there is an endless supply of squirrels,
and more squirrels.
we don’t know how soon we can make it there
but rest assured we will never be separated once we do.
we’ll hold you close,
and tight like a baby, and sing to you,
and read to you,
and sleep together in a BIG bed.
once we’re there you’ll “go get your leash,”
and we’ll go for a long walk,
and a hike in the mountains.
and of course we’ll play “ball.”
then more ball.
we love you and miss you everyday.
“that’ll do Jake, that’ll do.”
